Octagon Lodge

Comprehensive Safari Accommodation Guide

Set within lush, tranquil botanical gardens on the outskirts of Karatu town, Octagon Lodge is an inviting mid-range eco-lodge located in the Ngorongoro Highlands. Named after its distinct octagonal cottage architecture, this charming property provides a quiet, green sanctuary for safari goers traveling between Lake Manyara National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Lake Eyasi.

With its emphasis on warm family-style hospitality, fresh organic farm-to-table meals, and sustainable lodge operations, Octagon Lodge offers an excellent combination of character, comfort, and value for couples, families, and tour groups exploring Northern Tanzania's wildlife circuit.

Architecture & Garden Concept

Octagon Lodge stands out for its unique architectural design. The guest chalets and main lodge buildings are constructed in eight-sided octagonal layouts, built from local brick, stone, and natural timber under thatched and tiled roofing. This design maximizes natural airflow, interior space, and views of the surrounding greenery.

The main lodge building houses an open-air dining hall, a cozy fireplace lounge, and a bar area. Paved walkways wind through organic vegetable patches, flowering gardens, and shaded avocado and coffee trees, connecting the guest chalets to the central lodge and outdoor swimming pool.

Octagon Lodge offers individual and semi-detached octagonal chalets positioned throughout the garden grounds to ensure privacy and peaceful rest.
