A Remarkable Conservation Success Story

Ndarakwai Ranch represents one of East Africa’s most inspiring conservation transformations.

After decades of environmental damage caused by poaching, overgrazing, and deforestation following Tanganyika’s independence in 1961, wildlife populations nearly disappeared.

In 1995, conservationist Peter Jones established Ndarakwai as a protected private reserve. Through sustainable management and community cooperation, wildlife returned and ecosystems recovered.
