Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Zanzibar to Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Your adventure begins with an early morning domestic flight from Zanzibar to Arusha. Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your professional Gnade Safaris guide who will brief you on the journey ahead. From there, head straight to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s hidden gems known for its striking landscapes dotted with ancient baobab trees and the largest concentration of elephants in the country.
Embark on an afternoon game drive through the park’s savannahs and riverbanks. You’ll have the chance to spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, ostriches, lions, and possibly leopards and cheetahs, as well as over 500 species of birds. The Tarangire River, the only permanent water source in the park during the dry season, attracts large numbers of wildlife—making for unforgettable photo opportunities.
As the sun sets, you’ll head to Heart and Soul Lodge, nestled near the park, where you’ll enjoy a relaxing evening with a delicious dinner and the serene sounds of the African bush.

Day 2
Ngorongoro Crater – Return to Zanzibar
After an early breakfast, depart toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to one of the world’s most breathtaking natural wonders—the Ngorongoro Crater. This collapsed volcanic caldera is home to more than 25,000 animals, including some of the highest densities of lions and hyenas in Africa.
Descend 600 meters to the crater floor for a half-day safari, where you’ll have excellent chances of spotting the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and the critically endangered black rhino. The lush landscape, soda lakes, and open grasslands provide a stunning backdrop to this wildlife haven. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the hippo pool, surrounded by breathtaking views and grazing animals.
In the afternoon, ascend the crater and begin your transfer back to Arusha Airport in time for your evening flight back to Zanzibar. Your guide will ensure a smooth transition for drop-off at either your Zanzibar hotel or the airport.
